Regional Committees
The Council may define a geographical region and appoint a Regional Committee elected from Fellows of that region. The number of Fellows which shall compose each committee shall be determined by the Council from time to time. In addition to the members of each such committee appointed by the Council, members of the Council resident in the respective region shall be ex officio members of the Committee. Each Committee shall appoint a Chairman, an Honorary Secretary and an Honorary Treasurer.
Elections
For the purpose of assisting the Council in the appointment of Regional Committees, the Fellows in each region shall hold an election in August of every second (2nd) year, the result thereof being forwarded to the Honorary Secretary of the College with the recommendation that the Council should appoint the Fellows named as the Regional Committee for the ensuing two-year period. Such elections shall be held in the years between Council elections, i.e. in odd years.
Terms of Office
All Committees appointed by the Council, subject to the resolution governing their appointment, hold office for two (2) years. The members thereof shall be eligible for re-appointment. A Regional Committee shall have power to co-opt a Fellow or Fellows for a special purpose.
Office Bearers
Each Committee shall elect a Chairman, an Honorary Secretary and an Honorary Treasurer.
Membership
A Regional committee shall consist of not more than eight (8) members. In addition, members of Council resident in the respective regions shall be ex officio members of the respective Committees.
Meetings
Regional Committees shall meet at regular intervals, and not less than half-yearly.
Duties
The duties of a Regional Committee shall be:
- To hold and conduct at least one (1) scientific meeting annually.
- To hold one (1) business meeting annually, to be known as the Annual General Meeting of the Committee, not later than September in any one (1) year.
- To forward regular reports on the activities of the Regional Committee at the request of the Council.
- To make local arrangements for a Convocation of the College at the request of the Council.
- To assist the Council in arranging special teaching courses.
- To foster and arrange suitable gatherings for scientific and social purposes.
- To advise the Council on any matters in the region flat may concern the interests of the College.
- To keep proper accounts, and to be accountable for all monies received by and expended by the Committee.
- To prepare a budget for the operation of the Committee annually, and to make requests to the Council for the allocation of funds.
