F. G. Christensen Memorial Prize

On the advice of Examiners, the F.G. Christensen Memorial Prize was awarded to

Dr Mithulan Sriskandarajah, Victoria

as the candidate achieving the highest marks with outstanding proficiency at the Primary Examination conducted by the College in 2006.

History of the Memorial Prize

Frederich George Christensen died on July 17th 1969. There are few people who, "in the ordinary course of events, have the tenacity of purpose, the energy, the capacity and capability to accomplish in three score years and ten", what George Christensen did in his fifty four years.

Certainly dentistry has benefited by his labours, but equally important many men and women felt the hand of kindness that he so readily proffered. He was an extraordinary practitioner, teacher and lecturer and administrator in our profession.

Frederich George Christensen found in the College an admirable vehicle for using his talents in helping energetic and enthusiastic practitioners to achieve the status of Fellowship in the College. he served the College in the formative years as a Councillor, lecturer, examiner and Chairman of the Queensland Regional Committee.

It was not surprising therefore, that his death did not mean an end to his endeavours, for he ensured that a tangible expression of his interests should persist in the form of a Prize for the successful candidate with the highest marks with outstanding proficiency at the Primary Examination held by the College. The Examination is of a high standard and has achieved an international reputation.

The F.G. Christensen Memorial Prize consists of a Medal and a monetary award, presently A$500.
