General Stream Fellowship

FRACDS

Thank you for your interest in Fellowship in the College, via the General Stream.

The first step is enrolment (which is valid for one year).

Please complete the enrolment form and arrange to have it forwarded to the College with:

  1. A statement/certificate from an institution that you have obtained a degree or certificate qualifying you to carry out the full practice of dentistry;
  2. A statement/certificate from the registering authority in your country of residence that you possess a dental degree or qualification which currently entitles you to carry out the full practice of dentistry.  This statement/certificate must have been issued within the previous 12 months.
  3. two passport size photographs

These documents must be originals or certified copies.  Failure to comply with the foregoing will preclude the College from considering your application to enrol.

The enrolment form should be completed and returned to the College along with payment.  Please refer to the Current Scale of Fees and Payment Instructions.

Following enrolment you will be supplied with a copy of the Guide to Study and the Suggested Reading List for the Primary Examination.  If you are interested in sitting your Primary Examination in December, past candidates have found attendance at the Orientation Course to be invaluable.  The Orientation Course  is held in July each year in Sydney.  Over 60 lectures and tutorials are given, the lecturers normally being the examiners at the ensuing Primary Examination.  The registration closes on the 30th May for the following July.

Alternatively, you may apply for exemption from the Primary Examination under Regulation 15, if applicable.

Following the Primary Examination or exemption therefrom, and on compliance with the Regulations, you will be eligible to register for the Final Examination (General Stream).  The Final Examination is conducted in mid January each year and registrations close on 30 October.  Once again the College conducts a Final Exam Workshop for candidates for the Final Examination which you may elect to attend.  This workshop is held in June and registrations close on 1 May.

You will find information on the examinations sequence, examinable subjects and other details, both on the Primary and Final Examinations, in the Regulations.  For regulations please click here.

College memoranda are sent regularly to enrolled candidates, giving dates and venues of the Orientation Course and the examinations, together with accommodation arrangements and any other relevant information.

I should also emphasise, as stated in Regulation 1, that Fellowship is not a registrable qualification to practise dentistry in Australia or New Zealand although it will be recognised by Dental Boards as an additional description for a dentist already registered to practise in Australia or New Zealand.

Candidates from overseas are required to make their own visa and travel arrangements - the College is unable to take part in these matters.

Once again, thank you for your interest in Fellowship in the College and if you have any further inquiries please complete the inquiry form on this website.
