President's Welcome

Welcome to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons Web Site and to the many activities of the College.

The College has a broad range of activities for the professional development of both the general and specialist dentist through individually motivated and actioned studies and examinations directed towards Fellowship of the College.

Since its inception the College has broadened its activities to develop increased support for candidates and assistance towards preparation for Fellowship examinations, including intensive courses for both the Primary and Final Examinations, regional tutorials and advanced specialised courses.

Examinations are now in part held in various regions such as Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, New Zealand and Hong Kong, with more centres to follow. The College would welcome your inquiry.

College Convocations are held every two years at various venues in the geographic area covered by the College. These are structured to give up-dated information on scientific and clinical matters at an advanced level.

For general practitioners with a commitment to continuing professional development but who are unable to commit the time required to fulfil the Fellowship Examinations, the College has recently introduced a new qualification, Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (MRACDS). This achievable, flexible program enables GDPs to advance their practical GP clinical skills whilst at the same time gaining valuable CPD credits.

The College has also introduced Membership for specialists, Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons MRACDS (in the Special Field). Following admission to Membership, progress to Fellowship is via a new format examination. This process is underpinned by a philosophy of ongoing professional development and peer review.
