Dental History Library
The library holds over 500 items covering all aspects of dental history, with a strong focus on English publications. The collection covers monographs, journals, manuscripts, photographs and antique dental instruments. Much of the material is rare and unique.
The History of Dental Surgery Library has evolved from the donated collection of Dr Robert W Halliday, FRACDS. Dr Halliday donated his collection of old and rare dental texts to the College upon his retirement in 1985.
Fellows, Members, candidates, trainees and staff of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) are welcome to use the History of Dental Surgery Library and access is also available to the general public. The library mainly caters to historians, whether amateur or professional, genealogists, students, authors, journalists and even occasionally oral health researchers and lawyers needing information on the dental past.
